~~I have been working with, no for,~~ I started Hannah Sons Photography, roughly, in July of 2009. This meant that instead of taking a million pictures of my child I would take pictures of other peoples families and children. In the beginning of 2010 I started charging for my photography. To my amazement and surprise my business and photography has only grown more and more since then. Along with the amazing success of my business, which I never expected to have, I have had many struggles. I have found I am a workaholic, which makes it really hard for me to balance out work, family and life. At times I feel like the ringmaster of a three ring circus, but in reality I am the only one trying to juggle everything. For normal people this might not be hard, but for me, it’s no easy walk in the park. As my business grew more and more and I became more busy with less time, I became that horrible parent that didn’t take pictures of their own children, and totally neglected everyone around me. My camera became my job, it wasn’t something I enjoyed doing anymore, it was something I only did for “work”, and that’s just being real.

After my last shoot in December I knew I needed to detox. After doing 22 shoots in 30 days, just in November, I was beat, and completely burnt out. So, I took a month to detox. To catch up on life and just breath. It was exactly what I needed. I wanted to fall in love with my camera again, wow, that was cheeeeesssyy. After taking much needed time off I have been itching just to take pictures. I have so many ideas in my head for 2012. I am excited again for what is to come!! But I am also working on balancing my life a bit better. These are the years that I will never get back with my children. I don’t want to wake up one morning and wonder where my babies went. I want to watch them grow, every second of every day.

Starting in the next couple weeks I will be announcing my work hours and when I will be returning e-mails and editing. I will still take shoots any day of the week. I will just have different in office hours.

It was a cold winter day with nothing but dark clouds in sight. Mindy and I had been communicating about the weather and we knew we were going to take our chances and gamble with the rain, but I never expected the sky to open and the gorgeous sun to come out. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect afternoon and sunset. It was amazing. These two people are amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with and execute all the ideas I had in my head. These are the shoots I live for. Thank you Mindy and Dylan for such an amazing session, and being willing to try all my crazy ideas. I cannot wait to meet your little man. I know he will be nothing short of perfection.

As much as I wanted to take January off, and at times felt like I was holding my breath for some time off I cannot wait to start shooting again. I have tried using my children as models but they aren’t going for it. Soon they might start protesting. For the sake of saving them from their pestering mother I am giving away the bank. Ok, well not really but I am giving you super duper deal you cannot pass up. . . Discounted mini sessions for the month of January and February. Session will only take place on a Monday or Friday and will take place at various locations in Reche Canyon. If you are not familiar with Reche Canyon it is more of a rustic feel. I am really excited for 2012, and also a tad bit nervous too. I always anticipate what each year will bring me. This will be my third full year of business and that is also nerve racking to me. You can just call me nervous Nelly. I am really hoping 2012 brings many great things, but I also know it takes a lot of had work and determination to succeed. I am praying to have more patience with myself and to be more organized. I would also love to hear from all of you how I can make your experience better, or easier. I love feedback, even negative feedback. I am open to it all. If you don’t know it’s wrong, then how can you fix it? Please, please let me know, even if it is anonymous.

I really wanted to start the year out by taking picture of my kids. Much easier said than done. I am that horrible mom who started taking pictures of other people and forgot to take pictures of my own family and children. So, once again I will start the year out by saying I will strive to take more pictures of my children, and to blog. Killing two birds with one stone right here.

All I can say is it much easier to work with other families and other children. I was a wreck trying to get my kids to do what I wanted in a photo setting. So here ya have it; My crazy, imperfect, fun, loving family I wouldn’t trade for anything.

In any situation or any session I want the people around me to feel comfortable. I want having your pictures taken to be easy, casual, and fun. I don’t want anyone to stress or fuss about anything. It is my job to give you a great final product and also for you to walk away pleased with your experience as a whole. But, just as anyone else, I am human. I am not perfect all the time, and I too make mistakes or forget to call people back ( so guilty of the second one!). I also have two small children and a husband so I ask that you please try to book me in advance so I can plan time with my family also.

Payment in full is due the day of your session. Most sessions last 1-2 hours. Most sessions start approx. two hours before sunset.

Pictures will be edited and in an online gallery within 16 business days.
Minimum $50.00 print order must be made before CD will be released.
For most sessions, unless stated otherwise, you will receive a minimum of 50 low resolution images with copyright release. good for printing only 4x6.
Files are archived (saved in our database) for up to ONE year, thereafter they are removed and no longer available for purchase or viewing, unless contacted before the year is up and arrangements are made.

::Marks Family Reunion::

This year we decided to have our First Annual Marks Family Reunion. After my grandparents passed away five years ago we haven’t gotten together unless it is for a wedding or funeral and I was the last one to get married four years ago. We decided it would be great to try to get everyone in the same house for a weekend so we could catch up and also have the kids meet and play.

It was a ~~great time~~, wonderful time! I know I had tons of fun visiting and seeing everyone, and I know my kids are still tired from this weekend. I loved watching the kids play and interact with eachother. It reminded me when I was a kid getting together with family and playing with my cousins.

I wish I would have taken more pictures. I hardly took any. I know other people did so once I get those I will try and put them all together, but for now I will show you what I have.

My pictures include majority of the kids, some more than others. I think I am drawn to the wild ones which is why I have more pictures of the boys that anyone.

Hope you all had a great weekend. I can’t wait for next year to do it all again.

That would be how this little trio refers to their beautiful, outgoing, super smart daughter. I have know Lien since our Reche Canyon Elementary days, and I have know Daniel since high school. I always have a ton of fun with this family and it is always great to catch up. The last time I took their pictures Mikayla wanted nothing to do with me, nothing, not even a smile. This time she was my best friend, you know the kind that want to hold your hand and even tell you secrets, like when they accidently pass gas. hehe.

We met in Temecula and shot at South Coast Winery. It is such a beautiful place. I lived in Temecula for about a year and a half so I knew of the perfect spot that I wanted to finish our session at and it worked perfectly. Lien just informed me that she already knows where she wants to shoot her next session and I cannot wait.

I had a lot of fun at this shoot. Dani and Robbie drove up near my house and we shot in this area that I have seen nothing but deer. It was very secluded and woodsy, just how I like it. Dani was up for anything and willing to try whatever I had in mind, which always makes it fun. She even climbed under a fence to get where we needed to go, now that’s a team player. It was the perfect evening with a wonderful evening glow. We picked this area that the sun crested over the mountain and came down perfectly where we were shooting. I cannot wait to meet little RJ, he should be here any day. . .

::Hannah | ONE year::

I always get excited to see Hannah and her sister Hailey. They are two of the sweetest girls and so easy to work with. Hannah has the most gorgeous piercing blues eyes that anyone would die for. Any color or outfit her mom puts on her brings out her eyes and then when she smiles it is hard for your heart not to melt. Hannah wasn’t walking yet when we took these pictures so that made it easy to sit her down and capture every move and smile she made. Hannah’s dad is one of our amazing military men who is overseas right now. They will be leaving later this month to move to Florida where they will now be stationed, so hopefully I will be able to see these two lovely girls soon, with of course their, super strong, amazing mom that I take my hat off to for raising two lovely girls while your husband fights for our country. It takes a special person to be able to sacrifice your spouse for all of us. I thank you.

Tyler was the first senior I had photographed from Colton High. All the others were mainly from Redlands and Rev, so I didn’t want to take Tyler to any of the normal spots I tend to go with all the other seniors. I figured it would be best if I picked him and his mom up from there house and then we would just “wing it” through Colton and Grand Terrace. I had a couple of spots I had been wanting to try out but the opportunity never had come up. So I used Tyler as my guinea pig and he did a wonderful job. What 17 year old boy wants to get their picture taken? Not many! This is why I try to make it fun and go places I know they are {hopefully} going to feel comfortable, at least a little. Heck, if he had it his way, we would have gone down to Wal-Mart. ;) hehe

::A Better Face:: Tips & Tricks

A couple weeks ago I went in search of trying to find a “buffing cloth” my friend Amanda had been talking about. She made this wonderful Facebook page to give tips, tricks and suggestions how to take better care of you skin and your face. If you know me, you know I am not real big into taking care of myself ( yes, horrible to admit, but oh-so-true). Ever since Amanda made this page I have been washing my face every night and trying to take better care of my skin.

So, as a drove around Temecula looking for this buffing cloth I was getting more and more frustrated by the minute because I wasn’t able to find it. While I was at Target I sent her a text asking what this thing looked like. She tried to explain it and then also said they are sometimes not at Target but always at Wal-Mart, so that is where I headed. I am a very visual person so me not knowing what this thing looked like was equivalent to trying to find a needle in a haystack, expect I was in Wal-Mart, even worse. After searching for 15 minutes and even calling Amanda, who lives in Texas and I am pretty sure it was 8-9 o’clock there, I was able to find this little sucker and let me tell you how it has changed my life. This buffer cloth is amazing! And, the best part; it doesn’t get mold and other mildew nasty stuff it in. It dries within an hour of using it, thus not being able to grow any fungus, like a loufa.

In Amanda’s words taken from her page: {A BUFFING CLOTH!!! have you ever heard of one? if not, this is a MUST. that loofa you use is COVERED in bacteria - EVEN MOLD - and you are rubbing that all over your body every time you shower! disgusting! they never actually dry out so they are like a petri dish just waiting to explode. gross! Buffing cloths are AMAZING! not only are the antimicrobial (they don't get "germy" - even if folded up), they ALWAYS dry out (YES, EVEN IF YOU FOLD THEM UP), they exfoliate because they have a rougher texture and the FEEL AMAZING! after just one use you will notice a marked difference in the look and feel of your skin. they are big so you are able to scrub your back and they are pliable enough to bunch up and use just like a loofa! you cannot go wrong with one and to sweeten the deal they are under $5.00!!! you can pick them up in the cosmetics areas of Wal-Mart & target, where the back scrubbers (never use those - disgusting) and other shower items can be found! use them with your favorite body wash and you'll never go back to a dirty loofa again.}

Because I am a visual person. I took some pictures of this buffing cloths with hope will be be able to find it faster than I did.

As I was walking out the door of Wal-Mart I asked Amanda what facial stuff she would recommend to someone who has nothing and is on a budget. She didn’t even have to think about it before she started naming off products. So I ran back in, with her on the phone, grabbed everything she told me and walked away with three wonderful products I have been using daily, and LOVE them. My face feels amazing. I have been doing this for about a week now and can already see a huge difference.

So if you are like me and on a budget here are some great products to buy and start off with.

And here are the instructions Amanda has send along with the product:

CLARIFICATION ON A DOUBLE CLEANSE/routine: when you cleanse your face you need to cleanse TWICE followed by exfoliation and moisturizer. steps below:
1- rinse face
2- cleanse
3- rinse face (DO NOT DRY)
...4 - cleanse (again)
5 - rinse face (DO NOT DRY)
6 - exfoliate (now ONLY use an exfoliate that says it can be used daily if you plan on exfoliating every day - if you are going to be using a harsher exfoliate limit it to once or twice a week - follow instructions on bottle)
7 - PAT DRY
8 - moisturizer w/spf (or moisturizer and follow WITH an spf)
now if you want to use toners you can use them after you've patted your face dry after the exfoliation. so it would go between steps 7 & 8. i prefer toners that spray as opposed to toners you put on a cotton ball. if you're putting it on a cotton ball it most likely contains alcohol and can be very drying to your skin.
it seems like A LONG process but it's not. you can actually do it in less than 5 minutes and i usually do all but the toner & moisturizer in the shower. She also said witch hazel can be used as a great inexpensive toner.

Where do I even begin. I enjoy all of my sessions and all of my clients, but this session was so much fun. Not only the session, but everything I did with these photos just made it that much better.

Christina contacted me a couple weeks ago to get wedding and engagement prices since she will be getting married next year. I e-mailed her back and quickly got a response asking if I was available the Thursday that was coming up. I has already booked a session for that day but I wanted to hear what she was needing. Christina just happens to be the best friend ever. Her best friend, Kristin was on a “get away” vacation with her mom. Kristin’s husband had a meeting at work so they asked Christina to watch their kids for a couple hours. This is when Christina got the greatest idea ever and contacted me. She asked if I could take pictures of her best friends kids so she could give them as a gift. If you know me, you know I love sneaky, spy missions, I think I was a ninja in a past life, and since it needed to be earlier in the day I was still able to make my other session so of course I said yes!

Christina thought this would be the P-E-R-F-E-C-T gift for her best friend and I couldn’t have agreed more!

Since we had a time frame of when things had to be done so no one would find out I thought UCR Botanic gardens would be a perfect spot since the trees block majority of the harsh sun in the middle of the day.

When I first arrived Paige wanted nothing to do with me and Parker was all smiles. It took about five minutes for Paige to warm up to me and once that happened it was all down hill from there. I love these kids! They were so easy and fun. I had such a great time with these two and it only took an hour, if that.

When I was editing these pictures it was like I fell in love over and over with each image, and they are not even my children. I couldn’t have been more please with the final result. Luckily, Christina felt the same way so I made her a book to give to Kristin and she ordered two 16x20 prints on the styrene print.

I met Christina earlier today to give her the book along with the large prints. She drove directly to Kristin's house to present her the amazing gift she has been keeping a secret for two weeks. The last couple hours I have been waiting for a text to hear how Kristin responded and well, I’ll let her tell you herself .. ( pulled from my facebook page) “The pictures turned out AMAZING!! I don't even have words to express all the emotions I felt when I opened up the box, needless to say, I BURST into TEARS!!!”

I am thrilled that Kristin loved her gift. I think she probably has one of the greatest, most selfless friends in the whole world. It has been the best experience to work with Christina and help her create the greatest gift anyone could receive. She was able to give Kristin a priceless gift of her children. A gift that will last a lifetime. A gift that will turn into a collection. . .

I am often asked about the styrene print so I figured I would take a picture so you can have a better idea. If you order a print 8x10 or larger from me I put it on a 2mm styrene board. I think larger prints look much better on the styrene plus it protects your print from being bent or crinkled. These prints are both 16x20, which is probably my favorite size.

::Mother:Daughter:: {Oak Glen Family Photographer}

When I first met Amber the day of the shoot I knew she looked familiar but couldn’t put my finger on it where I knew her from. It was about an hour into our session when I realized how I knew her. I use to work at Electric Beach Tanning salon, in Grand Terrace, many many moons ago, and Amber used to come in. It has been years since I saw her which is why I couldn’t figure out how I knew her. Her daughter Hailey is right around my sons age and luckily I had my family with me that day. Her and Logan ended up playing towards then end of the shoot which worked out to my advantage. When we met Hailey was sleeping in the car, when she woke up she was not a happy camper at first. I can’t blame her, I wouldn’t want some weird lady with a camera in my face if I just woke up from a nice nap. It took some time for her to warm up to me , but after that, we were all good. We drove to a couple different spots in Oak Glen, basically if something caught my eye we stopped, I love shoots like that. We ended up at Riley’s farm and had a great time running around there. I love that I was able to capture all the different faces of Hailey, she is quiet the character.

::KGS Make up Artist::

I have know Kim for several years, so when she came to me wanting my services to help jump start her business I was all ears. She hosted a give away on her Facebook page for a couple weeks and then had one lucky winner at the end who was pampered. Had their make-up and hair done and even had pictures taken. She booked a room at the Mission Inn Hotel, one at which didn’t have air, but luckily they upgraded her to a suite. Tanya, the winner, got a wonderful facial by Stefanie from Skin Aesthetics in Riverside. I have to say I was quiet jealous while she was laying there getting her facial, it looked so relaxing. After her facial, Sabrina started her hair while Kim started with her make-up. Due to us having to change rooms we were running a little behind schedule which didn’t allow us as much time as I would have liked for pictures. But in the end it all worked out and the end result was beautiful.

Little miss Ava McKenzie is one lucky girl. She has two amazing parents that love her more than words can describe and grandparents that flew all the way from Oklahoma just to see her. Normally if a child is under six months I like to take the pictures in the clients home. That is where young babies are most comfortable and aware of their surroundings, which most of the time makes the session go much easier. It was a gorgeous day out. You could tell it was going to be a hot day but at 10am the weather was perfect. When I walked into the house I was in awe of how nice everything was. They have a beautiful courtyard right outside their living room, with the doors open it felt as if the house was completely open. It was refreshing to occasionally feel a slight breeze of fresh air brush up against your body. The décor in the house looked like it came straight out of a Pottery Barn magazine, it was beautiful, it was perfect. The room was filled with some of the closest people to Ava. Grandparents, great Aunt and even her mom’s best friend. It was hard not to smile when I looked around the room and saw everyone talking, laughing, and cooing over any little move Ava made. I had only been there about 20 minutes when Ava started to get tired. This threw any kind of game plan I had out the door, but it left me with an opportunity I have been wanting to do. When I knew Ava was tired and was probably going to be fussy most of the time I told her mom just to do what she would normally do. Let others hold her, feed her, love her, and I will capture it all. And, that is exactly what I did.

Can’t wait to see you again in a couple months Miss. Ava.

Joy and Nicole are best friends, so I was happy when Nicole sent Joy my way for her senior pictures. We met in Redlands on one of those cool, overcast afternoons, and if you know me you know I LOVE me some overcast skies! If everyday was overcast I would be in heaven, those clouds create perfect lighting for anywhere! I knew Joy had a Cello that she wanted to bring, and I had the perfect spot in mind, but I didn’t know how to pronounce Cello. Maybe that is sad to admit, but very true, I thought it was a C-lo. I guess I just say it like I see it. ; ) Joy is a very talented young girl, and super fun to be around. She plays the cello and also bass guitar ( I think it was base?) I would love to have some talent like that, and be able to sing also.. I'm pretty sure that isn’t asking for too much, right? So since I had the perfect sky, we drove to a couple different places in Redlands and snapped away.

After lots of thought I have decided to change a couple things. Starting July 1st when you get your CD of images they will be low resolution images. This means that you can print a 4x6 a still have a great looking picture. If you are looking for prints larger than a 4x6 you will be able to purchase all of those through me at a great price, and all of my prints come on a styrene mount.

Every professional photographer receives this question from a client at one point or another: “What is the difference between your prints and the prints I get at the local one-hour photo?” The simple answer to this is everything! Not all prints are created equal. When you take your pictures to a print retailer who caters to the public (target, wal-mart, costco, ect..) they operate with the “quantity, not quality” business model. They turn down their color vibrance and saturation setting to maximize their output of pictures. This results in inaccurate colors from how the photographer actually intended the image to print. Blacks tend to not be true black, greens tend to be on the yellow side, and flesh tones are often overly pink or orange. Black-and-white images see the most trouble with inaccuracies because special materials and processes are required to print a true black-and-white image correctly. The materials are also different. The discount labs usually use thinner, lower quality papers than a professional lab.

When you order a large print from a local retailer, it does not look how I intended it to look and that is a reflection of my work. I take pride in all of the work I do and I want the prints you put up in your home to reflect that. Through a professional photo lab custom prints are made with archival quality materials, including the highest grade photographic papers, and are also individually printed and calibrated to the photographers’ specific color standards.

Each day our society becomes more and more digital. I want to be able to always give my clients their pictures on a disc to keep forever, but I also want my clients to only have the best, and I feel this is the best way to do that.

With photography, nothing rings truer than the saying, “You get what you pay for.” Therefore, I invest in my products so that my clients benefit from the best quality and value available for their own investment.

One year ago today I laid in a hospital bed filled with so much anticipation, and excitement knowing I was going to be the proud mother of a little baby girl. I had fears about having a little girl, but I am sure those will be knocking at my door in 14 more years! The minute you were born my heart ached with so much love. It is an indescribable feeling having a child. How can you explain to someone just how much they are loved in one second of meeting them, literally, one second. That every part of your body gets this achy, tingly, adrenaline rush when you see you child for the first time. It is like taking a breath of fresh air, but this is the best fresh air in the entire world that you could ever breathe. Bailey was no different that her brother. I loved her more than words can describe in that first second I saw her, it made every part of those long nine months worth it, that and then some!

Bailey is opposite from my experience with her brother in many ways. Has been since day one. She is a quiet creature, and at times very content playing alone. She would rather put herself to sleep that be held or cuddle. ( boo!) She doesn’t know that I know this, but she is an instigator and tries to get her brother in trouble… a lot. And let me tell you about this girls dirty looks. She can throw some mean “if looks could kill” faces. She is the shy one, doesn’t trust many at first, but only takes couple minutes to warm up to you. She loves music and loves to dance. Most days she is a pretty easy, laid back child. Something I am totally not used to. Bailey has been walking for about 10 days now, it is so weird to have two walking children. Logan will take a toy of hers, go running and there is she chasing right after him.. We have four teeth on top and two on the bottom, which is great since she doesn’t like food..weird child! I'm still not sure where she got that trait from…. She only wants baby food and french fries. Nice combo. But we’re working on it. She is tall and skinny coming in at 30.5 Inches and only 21.2lbs. .. I love every little piece of her, even when she gives me dirty looks, and throws food at me when I try to feed her. : ) She is my little girl! I never in a lifetime thought I would be able to say that.

I love you Bailey Renee. Please stay my little girl forever. . .

I picked Sam up on the most perfect Friday afternoon. The weather was perfect. The sun was shinning with that beautiful evening glow and there was wind and no smog! I have to be honest, when I fist picked Sam up from her house I was worried. She was in a cute dress, make-up on, with her hair pulled back in a messy bun. As we drove to the first location I was trying to figure out in my head how I could ask her to let down that pretty hair. When we arrived I got out of the car I looked over at Sam, she had let down this beautiful, thick, natural flowing hair. She fooled me!!!! She has the pefect hair that just falls into place no matter what direction she flips her head. Sam is the girl I wished to be. She can dress it up or dress it down and still look great! I think She could wear her pajamas around and still pull it off. Not just because of her looks, but also because of her care-free sense of style and attitude.

Since I picked Sam up from her house I was able to take her to a lot of places I have been eyeing for some time now. They are the places that I see but know I just need a couple shots from so I normally don’t drag people to these spots. SInce I was driving though I used ALL of the spots and more. Plus while we were driving it was great talking and hearing about where Sam is going to college. She will be attending Channel Islands University this coming fall. Did you know that college used to be Camarillo State Mental Hospital, yep.. Crazy stuff.

Sam, thank you for letting me drag you around. It was great getting to know you, and hearing about you life. I wish you nothing but the best success in life and have a blast at college.

3.26.11 a chilly, overcast day in the Inland Empire, but there was NO rain and that is all that mattered. From the day that Becky and I met with Lisa for her consultation we were excited to watch this wonderful day un-fold. Lisa is so relaxed, “kick-back” as the youngens would say. She knew what pictures she wanted, but over all she wanted to have a good time and marry the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with, Robert.

On the day of the wedding I arrived where Lisa was getting ready. I expected to find a bride freaked out about the weather and that is might rain, boy was I wrong. Lisa was so calm. She was enjoying herself, getting ready, having her long time friend Alejandro Puilido do her hair and make-up, surrounded by her closest friends and family.

Lisa and Robert had the most beautiful wedding ceremony at St Bernadine's church, in San Bernardino. It had been a while since I had been to a catholic ceremony, but from what I remembered I knew I would have plenty of time to get all those perfect shots I wanted.

After the ceremony we met in Redlands to take family pictures along with wedding party. Lots of jokes were told and laughs during this time. Robert and Lisa are hilarious, at times I didn’t know what to believe between jokes and “real-talk”, it doesn’t help I am the most gullible person you’ll ever meet. I had never met Robert until the day of the wedding,so it was great to see the way Lisa lights up when she is around him. These two must walk around smiling all the time. They are so happy together and always laughing. It is refreshing to be around them, because it is hard not to smile with them.

There is not much I can say about this reception besides it was one big, beautiful, party! Their reception was held at the Mitten Building, in Redlands. Their DJ, Mike Medina, was great. He kept everyone dancing and constantly interacting with each other. He even played the Spanish version of achy-breaky-heart by Billy Rae Cyrus. C’mon, who doesn’t want to dance to that?!?! I would have to say my favorite part about their wedding and the reception were the BEAUTY-ful flowers from Petals by Xavi. They were amazing. I badly wanted one of these flower arrangements. They made the night complete. The food was great from The Farm, in Redlands, I have been craving asparagus since this wedding and I normally don’t even like it! Their wedding cake from Baker’s Oven, in Riverside, was gorgeous, picture perfect, I didn’t get a taste but I heard it was yummy.

Becky and I really enjoyed ourselves at this beautiful wedding. Robert & Lisa you are an amazing couple with wonderful families. Thank you for having Becky and I be a part of your special day.

Yes, another Easter post!! Tanya contacted months ago to take her family Easter pictures. Her brothers and their families do not live near so she wanted to make sure we would be able to take them Easter weekend. I was so happy I was able to meet her family. They are the nicest people, with the cutest girls ever. I say girls and not kids, because there are four girls in this family and no boys yet.

We decided to go to UCR Botanic Gardens, and in my opinion the weather was perfect. I ~~like~~, LOVE shooting in overcast weather. It makes for the perfect reflection of light, everywhere and you don’t have to worry about “hot spots” from the harsh sun. ahh I could talk all day about shooting in the overcast elements. But that would only bore those of you who don’t care. ; )

I love seeing when big families get together. They only see each other a couple times a year but those little girls walked around holding hands like they were best friends and saw each other ever day and you wanna know why they did this….. they were cousins.. See I knew what I was talking about when I said cousins have a special bond in my last post.

You will be seeing some more of Tanya and her daughter Ava in the near future. Tanya just won a give-away put on by KGS make-up artist, and her daughter is turning FIVE in June and we are taking pictures for her very, special 5th birthday!

The title of this post show just how far behind I am in blogging.

I was super happy when Lindsey contacted me to take the kids pictures, I hadn’t seen her or Brock in a while and it just so happened to fall on her birthday. But, I was not so happy when I woke up that morning with a migraine and it was super-duper hot outside and only eight in the morning. Luckily we had decided to take the pictures around 10am so she could have the rest of the day to celebrate the day of her birth! Lindsey’s sister, Stephanie, also came with her kids so we just made it a “cousins photo day". I remember being little and getting so excited to see my cousins and yes, even take pictures with them. There is a special bond between cousins. They are someone you might see often, or maybe only a couple times a year. Sometime it might take a few minutes to warm up to them, but one you do, it seems that you always have a blast with your cousins. They are like that best friend that you can tell everything to since you don’t have the same friends or live in the same house, and you know your secret will be safe. It was great to see the kids run around together, help each other, and encourage one another to smile! I always love when I see families get together and share moments in life. Nothing is greater than family.

There is not much more I can say about these lovely ladies. I am sorry for the blog overload but this is way overdue since I am the worst blogger in history.

I am sad that I won't be seeing these girls anymore, or at least any time soon. I thoroughly enjoyed being around them. They made me feel young again. When I was around them it was easy to forget that I graduated ten years ago. Where has the time gone?

As I have told you girls before, just stay in touch. Put as much effort into this special friendship that you have. You will all be starting new chapters in your life's and going in different directions. I am sure that the three of you will remain friends for a very long time and will always have each other to celebrate milestones with in life. I wish the three of you nothing but the best and I can honestly say I am so glad that I have met the three of you.

AnnMarie was the last of the three best friends I shot. She is the youngest of the three but the “mom” of the group. She is the one who is always making sure every article of clothing looks good on others and makes sure that is not the funny strand of hair sticking out somewhere. She is the one who nurtures people, she is “the mom”. It was great to watch the other girls take care of her and make sure she was “perfect” for her shoot. Due to traffic we started her shoot a little later than what I normally would, so I knew we had to work fast, and since it was a warmer day we also had to watch for snakes!! It is becoming that time of year again when we need to watch out for those lovely creatures that I cannot stand! Ugh, I really dislike snakes, no thank you! We didn’t encounter any snakes, but we did have some wonderful gnats follow us around, you know that kind that feel like they are in your eyes and everywhere else on your body, the really annoying kind, but we didn’t let them stop us. We went on our “nature” walk and ended in the very cold, cold creek that AnnMarie really wanted to get in, which of course I LOVED!

AnnMarie I am so happy for you that you are going to OR for school. That is going to be a wonderful experience that not many get have. Don’t be sad about leaving the other girls, try to always look at life with the glass half full, not empty. Things always seem better that way. ; )

I met Alissa up in Oak Glen. I had planned to take her pictures at Los Rios Ranch, but I wasn’t aware that the park and trails closed at 4:30 all year round, and they don’t mess around about locking your car in there if you are not out. So after freaking out inside for a min I figured I would just “wing” it. I know, super professional right?! There are several spot in Oak Glen that I always pass and want to take pictures at so I thought I would use this golden opportunity and use a couple of these spots and then finish at Riley's Farm, because you can never go wrong there, it’s impossible. On this day I also realized how small the world really is… Alissa noticed a Local Union 1245 sticker on my window. It is a sticker of the union my husband is in for his job, Power line Construction. Alissa’s mom then asked why I has this sticker and who I knew in that trade. I explained that it was my husband, told her what he did, who he worked for, and where his “show up” was… her eyes got brighter and her smile got bigger as I kept talking, which it totally not normal when I tell people about my husbands job because no one ever gets it. Well, the reason why LeeAnn got it is because her husband does the same exact thing, for the same company, same show up!!! My husband and Alissa’s dad work together and we had no clue!!! See, told ya. Small world! After knowing our families worked together I felt as if I had known them forever. We had a great session with several laughs.

Alissa, I wish you nothing but the best in your future. I know you will go far and succeed in everything you put your mind to. You and humble, I like that, and you have a smile that can light up a room, use it to it’s fullest potential. ; )

::Bachelor Wedding:: {Apple Valley Wedding Photographer}

Yesterday Becky and I went to Eric and Jessica’s fantastic wedding which was held in Apple Valley at the Aspen Solera Clubhouse. We seriously had so much fun. It was a beautiful day, sun shinning, not to hot and not to cold, the only downer was the 25mph wind. We could have done without that. Jessica looked stunning, Eric looked handsome, and they didn’t let the wind bother them, the only thing they wanted to do was get married. I loved seeing when Eric and Jessica are with each other, their smiles just get a little brighter. They complete each other.

It was great to see so many {fun} people come together to witness and celebrate the unity of these two amazing people. Once the “I do’s” were said {in the 25mph wind} is when the real party began. With a Patron toast instead of a Champagne toast I am sure you can only image the fun that was had. Becky and I had a great time at the Bachelor Wedding. There was never a dull moment. They knew how to get the party started and keep it going. I will post more reception pictures later. So for now I will keep you waiting and wondering.

Eric and Jessica I am so happy for the two of you and this new chapter you are starting. I have no doubt you will have along, happy life together.

Miss Kennedi Jo. I was so excited to meet this little girl. I have been waiting since the moment her Mama told me she was pregnant with a little baby girl. Growing up Ashley and I caused a lot of ruckus together, roaming the hills of Reche Canyon on our horses and dirt bikes. Ashley found out she was pregnant right before Logan was born, and now our daughters will be 11 months apart. It’s always great to have a friend with children around the same age, and even greater when their child is just as wild and crazy as yours! I am so excited to see Kennedi grow. She is now a month old {here's to the worst blogger ever! ;)} and as cute as ever. I think she looks just like her Grandpa.

::A Day at the Beach::

In honor of Earth day I thought I would post pictures from our Laguna Beach trip last week. Last Saturday I was scheduled to meet some clients down in Laguna so I figured we should just make a day out of it with the kids, especially since Laguna is one of my favorite spots. I feel so at home at the beach. When I am down in the beach area I feel as if anything goes. Who cares if you hair is frizzy, who cares if you have sand all over you feet and legs, who cares if your kids are wet from running into the water with their clothes on, who cares about anything.. why? because you’re at the beach! After this trip to the beach I am so happy to say Logan’s love for the beach has grown. He has been asking daily to go to back, which has tempted me just to get in the car and drive… to the beach! The only thing stopping me is these outrageous gas prices.

We went down to the Montage tide pools and saw all sorts of neat things, including some dolphins. Logan thought that was the neatest thing ever! We saw a crab, some newly hatched hermit crabs, sea urchins, and some green anemone. We were looking for a star fish, but never came across one.

We took Bailey to the beach last summer for the first time, but this was the first time she actually was able to feel the sand between her toes and touch the water. The verdict it still out if she likes it or not. We are planning to go back next week and I cannot wait. I could spend all day down there without a care in the world. I have always wanted to live at the beach, but I also want my horses and farm animals. Is that asking for too much? How about we just move to Hawaii and buy a plantation farm…. I think that shall be perfect, the best of both worlds.

::Partida Wedding:: {Riverside, Mission Inn Wedding Photographer}

It was a rainy, cold day in March. The wedding ceremony was supposed to be held outside in the oriental garden at the Mission Inn, but due to the weather it was moved to inside the chapel. I knew Anya was bummed that things weren't going as planned. She had been talking about the Oriental garden for the last 15 months as she prepared and planned for this gorgeous day. Luckily for her, she has some ah-mazing wedding planners from Le Jour Parfait. Dorian and Dan are wonderful people to work with. They made Becky and I feel so comfortable and made our job so much easier. Shooting a wedding at the Mission Inn for the first time can be a tad overwhelming, especially in the rain when you can’t use the venue to it fullest potential. Dorian and Dan made us feel much better about the day and I know they also made Anya feel much better too. Once she knew Ray was in the building I could tell she was more relieved. The two of them make an awesome team. At the end of the day it didn’t matter to Anya if it were sunny, raining, snowing or hailing, she was just happy she was marrying the love of her life.

For the last 15 months I have taken many photos of Ray, Anya, and Kaleb, I feel as if they were family. I felt so honored to be a part of this incredible day in their lives and to witness it first hand. I told myself I wouldn't get emotional, but it happened, more than once!

As the night went on the rain got worse and worse. When Becky and I were taking pictures after the ceremony with our lovely newlyweds I felt like we were playing a game of cat and mouse running through the Mission Inn trying to stay dry, keep Ray and Anya dry and also get the best pictures possible. Once we felt we had enough pictures that is when the party began. Their DJ was great. I felt as if I were in High School with all of the old school jams, and caught myself “moving” to the beat several times. If you ever see this in action you will quickly realize I have no rhythm, none, not even a little.

Everything about this wedding was amazing and beautiful. The colors, details and all the lit candles were superb. Even though several plans had to be changed due to the weather everything turned out perfect. Anya did a super, fantastic job planning every little detail about this day.

Ray and Anya looked stunning. I am so excited to see this next chapter of their lives begin. they are truly lucky to have each other.

Nicole’s mom and I had been talking and trying to get something together for over a month. With this crazy weather we had been having we had to reschedule I think twice due to rain and then once because I got food poisoning. Then I thought I was going to have to reschedule with her again because the flu came through the house and I was sick the night before. Luckily I had started to feel better by morning and I was going to do this shoot no matter what. I hated that we had to reschedule so many time. Since it had been so long since Nicole first booked with me I had forgotten who referred her to me until she asked how I knew her sister in law. I felt like a light bulb had gone off in my bed, and then I felt silly for not remembering who she was related to. I had a wonderful time with Nicole and her mom Julie. We went to a couple different locations in Redlands and just talked the whole time. Even after Nicole's shoot we sat down on a bench and talked for probably 30 more minutes. They are just the nicest people. I told Nicole that her cheeks were going to hurt by the end of our time together, and I was right. When your cheeks hurt by the time you have left me, than I have done my job, because in my opinion your cheeks only hurt from a “real” smile, not a fake one. : )

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for a evening of pictures. I met with Kristen and Jeremy after I had just spend four hours with Liam trying to get him to sleep, and I’ll admit I was tired. I got there a little early and realized that UCR botanic gardens closed at 5:00. Lock the gates, closed. So I started to panic once again, which would be the second time in one day. ha! me stress? NOOOooo! who am I kidding. Stress ball should be my middle name. Just then I heard a lady asking an employee what to do if you were inside when the gates closed.. I was trying to listen but at the moment I got a call from Kristen telling me they couldn’t find the parking lot. Luckily for me the lady asking the questions was Kristen’s sister, Carrin. The minute I met Carrin and then Kristen and Jeremy I totally forgot how tired I was. I had so much fun with them. I think I laughed the whole time we were together. We went on our “nature walk” snapping pictures along the way and cracking jokes the whole time.

As we all know most men do not like having their picture taken, but they all agree to take them to make their wife, girlfriend, or family happy. Jeremy was the exception to this one. He was all for it! He might have been into it a little more than Kristen, ok, maybe not, but I had a blast with him. I love when guys come in ready to do anything. And how could I forget about Reed. This little guy is the cutest thing ever with his little dimples. At 10 months old it can be hard to keep their attention and this is why I think it was great that Kristen’s sister, Carrin came along. She got to jump up and down, yell Reeds name and do all those obnoxious things I normally do, while taking the picture. By the time we left I felt like I had know Jeremy, Kristen and Carrin for years. They are so fun to be around, and if you ever need a good laugh, these are the people to call.

Thank you again for sharing your afternoon with me, I cannot wait to see you guys again.

Liam sure is cute, but I have come to the conclusion he just doesn’t like me. His parents wanted me to come and and do birth photography when he was making his arrival into this world. Well, since he decided to be stubborn, he was born by c-section, which meant no birth photography. I have to admit I was bummed since I think it is the most amazing thing ever, but I was more glad that mama and Liam were doing just fine.

I had been talking to Lisa all week asking how she was doing and adjusting to motherhood. I have no doubt that her and Sean will make the most amazing parents. It is hard not to feel the love for this child when they are around him. It was refreshing to see a baby be so loved by two people. Only problem for me… Liam did NOT want to sleep. I was at their house for four hours and he maybe slept 20 minutes. Seriously!?! a 10 day old baby not sleeping for me? I thought I was a goner. I secretly was panicking inside trying to figure out how to pose him and what to do with a baby who I couldn’t bend and move around where I wanted him. Once I got home and looked through the pictures I felt a little better but I still was stressed. Then once I walked away and came back to the project I felt I pulled it off pretty good. If I can handle Mr. Liam, I can handle anything. I am excited to see this little guy grow up and watch what an amazing job his parents will do.

I received a birthday gift this last week that I am hoping, no scratch that, has already helped me with my business and keeping things together and organized, which is something I have a terrible doing lately. From now on my contracts will be signed at your session and sent right to your e-mail right after you sign them. Wada-bing-wada-bang! done! yes, just that simple. Technology is killing me these days. I never thought I would be “that person” that has no clue what is going on in the world with the latest gadgets and furthermore “that person” who has no clue how to use them. Yes, I am “THAT PERSON”!! In the last six months I have gone to make two purchases for some latest and greatest. One being the PS3 for Christmas and the most recent being the ipad. When the sales people were talking to me explaining all the “great” things these items do and how they do them I just sat there with a smile on my face and nodded, agreeing every once in a while. When I was totally puzzled I would start my question with “now this might sound really dumb but.. how do you ___?” I know they were just being nice and doing their job but I could tell they were wondering if I crawled out from under a rock somewhere from some foreign land, since I knew nothing. When the Verizon sales rep was explaining stuff to me and kept referring to face time I smiled and nodded and then I asked;; “ umm, what is face time? I have no clue” his response, “oh wow, you really don’t know anything” haha. Umm.. ya! told Ya! After a couples hours of frustration from not knowing what I was doing and using my friend Google to find out everything, I am extremely happy with my birthday present. Which leads me to my next walk of shame for the week. My birthday is at the end of the month and as of a couple weeks ago I didn’t know what my current age was. I laid in bed with Wes arguing that I was a year old than I really am for a good ten minutes before I (did the math) and realized he was right (did ya hear that… he was right! it doesn’t happen often) and I was wrong, about my own age!!! Isn’t there something really wrong with that last sentence? I didn’t know my own age and I am only turning 28 ( which I thought was 29). wow.

So without any further delay. He are the new contracts that you will being signing. PLUS I now have a walking portfolio with me at all times! So if ya see me on the street and want to see some pictures, I got it! Just don’t ask me my age. I might lie, or not know the answer!.

::Senior.Nicole:: {Riverside, Mission Inn Senior Photographer}

I have been loving all of the senior pictures I have been doing, Nicole was no exception to that. She brought along her friend, Mom and Grandma. I love when my seniors bring along family or friends. I feel it always takes away that weird feeling of “wow, im the only one in the picture. Is my smile ok? Does my hair look ok? How should I stand? feeling” Yes, we all have these questions go through our head but when we have a distraction it is not as bad, plus I feel I get the see the “real” person when they interact with their family or laugh with their friends. I think that is what a picture should show, the real you!

We moseyed through the Mission Inn talking pictures as everyone looked at all the beautiful architecture of the building. I love old building like that. I just wish the walls could talk. Can you image how many stories they would have? I would love to hear all the stories. Not only is the Mission Inn beautiful but so are the surrounding buildings.

I had fun with Nicole and her friend Tatum, I even threw them a curve ball and asked Tatum to take a couple pictures, she was hesitate but was a game player. I seriously couldn’t get over how tiny Nicole was, I ~~secretly~~ would LOVE to be that size. Only problem is I would most likely walk around naked and I don’t know how society would accept that. ;)

What a trio these kids are! Between the three of them there is never a dull moment, to say the least. I can say this because I know the mom pretty darn well. I liked her enough to even have her in my wedding! Her husband already had two children and then they had little whitey Cash. They drove up the mountain so we could shoot in the woods. We we first decided to take pictures we just had plan A, which was to go to the lake. Place A then turned into place B, C and then D and along the way we ended up with pizza somehow. Let’s just say it was an adventure that even include zombie reindeer! haha In the end we made it out alive and walked away with a few good pictures, and I really only mean a few!

::Senior. JEFF:: {Reche Canyon Senior Photographer}

This was the most exhilarating shoot I have been on, ever! Jeff lives in Reche Canyon, a place I am very familiar with, since this is where I grew up, and lived until about 4 years ago. I couldn’t picture taking Jeff’s pictures at any of the usual spots so I asked if using the canyon would be ok and he thought that was a great idea. Jeff got this awesome truck for Christmas and I was going to make sure we put it to use. I had a couple favorite spots that I wanted him to drive to and then he had some ideas of his own. I hadn’t been off-roading in a very long time. At least since I had Logan and I forgot what the rush felt like when you are not in control of the vehicle sliding around on the dirt, or climbing hills. It felt exciting and scary all at the same time. I had a huge smile ear to ear, was trying to hold on to my camera and the “HOLY SNIKKIES” bar at the same time. We made up stories about drug Lords coming to get us and how we would get away and had many laughs. What 17 year old boy wants to get their pictures taken? not many! So I figure, lets make is fun so we both enjoy it. Because lets face it, when someone doesn’t want their picture taken it doesn’t make job any easier. Jeff was a trooper and a good spot about all my request from him. ;) I wish it had been a little later in the evening to get that sunset light but since Jeff had to work we had to go sooner. So we made it work, but I would love to take a few more of him later in the evening.

Sweet baby Cara was so cute and cuddly until I wanted to undress her. This girl did not like to be nakey, which in her parents eyes is ok, and I am sure they hope it will stay that way for a very long, long time.

I did Courtney’s maternity pictures a couple weeks ago and since then have been waiting for this little beauty to arrive. I seriously love newborns. It is so nice to love and cuddle them, and then give them back. Out of all the sessions I do, newborn sessions make me miss my kids the most. This session I didn’t even get the chance to miss them though. They were there! Courtney is my sis-n-laws neighbor and since her house in under construction we did them at my sister in laws. She has a huge, naturally lit living room which is perfect for a newborn session. It was a warm day so I didn’t even need the floor heater, and we kept the ac off. Boy was I hot by the end of that shoot. Newborns make me work, they are no easy task. I thought Cara and I had a good relationship going on until she poo’d and peed on me, twice! Let’s just say that wasn’t the highlight of my day. : )

Cara, I cannot wait to see you grow and watch you conquer all the little milestones in the next year.

::Kaylee.Senior:: {Hemet Senior Photographer}

Kaylee’s mom contacted me for her daughters senior pictures. We went back and forth on a spot for a couple weeks until she saw Courtney’s maternity pictures. She thought it would be a great spot and I couldn’t have agreed more! Kaylee brought two of her friends with her which was great since they had me laughing the whole time! It was awesome to see the three of these girls interact with each other. Their friendships looks unbreakable, it was as if they all three acted as one, knowing what the others were thinking. It reminded me up my friendships in high school. I told them if I could give them any advice, it would be to keep in touch, stay friends, and put effort into it. Being around these girls made me want to call my friends from high school, the D.H.C.K.S, and get together a.s.a.p., We all were so close and did everything together, but once you graduate, go you different directions it becomes harder and harder to stay in touch and keep that bond you have strong. I admire strong friendships. Everyone needs a best friend, weather it be one person or a couple. The girls got emotional when they started talking about the three of them going to different schools in different locations. Kaylee’s mom was emotional to see her little baby grow into a beautiful young woman who is graduating high school, and has turned how pretty darn well. And then I got emotional just watching them get emotional, wow sounds like one big emotional mess….. but were girls and allowed to do that. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these ladies, with their goals and determination I am sure they will go far. Plus, I can’t wait to see them again since I am taking Kaylee’s two friends senior pictures in the next couple weeks. : )

I was so happy when Courtney said she would come out to a new spot I have been eyeing for the last year! She was the first shoot I did after the time change and I was unsure when we should have started the shoot. I told her 4:30 but in in normal Courtney fashion she got there at five. She said if he daughter is anything like her she will come late too. ; ) After all the jokes about the lateness and her having to do her hair over because she didn’t like the curls, 5:00 worked out just perfect. This shoot made me “ok“ with the time change, because before this shoot I was not diggin it. Courtney was a trooper walking through all the elements being nine months pregnant and having a swollen foot and because of it she was able to get some amazing pictures. I am so in love with this spot I wish I could shoot here all the time or in places like this.

::Seth.six months:: {Rancho Cucamonga Children's Photographer}

The little boy is going to be a heart breaker. I can almost guarantee it. He is such a happy little guy. I thought he was a Mama’s boy, but I was so wrong. Dad came home and it was all eyes on dad with a big smile on his face. He instantly lit up when he saw his Dad. All I can say is this is one beautiful family. Mom and Dad look like Ken and Barbie and now they have a very handsome son, it doesn’t get much better than that. I worked with Seth’s mom in the hospital for almost six years so I was so excited when she had this little guy. Grandpa and Grandma also came over to take some pictures with the big six month old. When everyone was there it was hard not to notice how much they love this little guy. He is very lucky so have all these amazing people around him.

Like I said, I am pretty sure he is going to be a heart breaker so I cannot wait to see him again to see how much cuter he has gotten, if that is even possible.

::Hannah:: nine months:: {Redlands Children Photographer}

This little girl was the sweetest thing I have come across in a while. You could just melt it her big, beautiful, blue eyes. I was so jealous of her hair. I wish my daughter had as much hair as she did. I have known Miss Hannah’s mom since jr. high although I haven’t seen her in at least 10 years. Her husband is in the military and they have been living in North Carolina, which doesn’t make it easy to see someone often. :) Hannah also has an older sister, Hailee, who can be quite shy. She is defiantly a mama’s girl. She stayed pretty reserved the whole shoot until I asked her about her dad and then she went on and on. It was the cutest thing ever.

Since we were at Prospect Park when did a lot of walking around and moving locations. Hannah was a trooper until the very end when all she wanted to eat was an orange.

The girls’ dad comes home in a few weeks and I will be taking pictures of the whole family. I cannot wait to see these little cuties again. It was so nice to see their mama and catch up after 10 years.
