My Twenty-Ten

2010 was such an amazing year. I brought a beautiful baby girl into this world and my photography business took off further than I ever expected it to. I am so grateful for all of my clients. I love that I have been blessed to meet so many new wonderful people. I have always been a people person. I love meeting new people. I love that I can get to know my clients and then give them a wonderful memory to have forever. I just counted how many shoots I did ( or at least kept track of ) and my final number was 56. I did 56 shoots this year. I don’t know about anyone else’s stats but for me that is an awesome number.  The funny part about this number is 42 of these shoots were in the last five months.

This year I was able to buy a new bigger camera and learn so much... I think I grew as a person/mother/and photographer. I can see my improvements and can only pray I am able to learn so much more in this next year.  That is one more reason why I love my job. There is always something learn or try and the options are endless. I am so excited to see what 2011 has in store for me. I am praying 2011 is even better than this year and my business would continue to grow.  I would love to do more weddings this upcoming year and would love to expand my business in someway..

I hope that all of you are having a wonderful night and I wish you all an excellent twenty-eleven

I was messing around today and changed my twitter background with some of the pictures from this year. This was not even half of them.

A Sons Family Picture…

What a morning! Today was the day I had planned to take our family picture. I was just going to have my mom come down and snap a few of us and be done.. Well, all of that happened but it wasn’t so easy. Bailey is teething and not enjoying life, which means she is also spitting up everything. Where we took the pictures there are bulls so Logan just wanted to see the “big moo cow” ( who was getting quite mad at him) and Kohl was just running around. So, once we all got together I didn’t check to see that my shirt was hanging out and my hair was all over the place. Despite of all the craziness we were able to get a couple. Let’s just say I will be trying this again sometime soon, and someplace without a live animal, which most of the time the bulls aren't even there, but of course the day I want to take pictures the bulls had been put there just this morning.

::My Christmas in Pictures::

Very image heavy, but what else would you expect from me.

I hope that each and every one of you had the most wonderful Christmas today, and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you just had a wonderful day.

I am so thankful for all my clients, friends, fans, and follows. I would not have gotten this far without you all. I am forever grateful for you.

Here have been my two day. Bailey is getting sick so she has been super fussy, and since this morning all Logan wants to do is ride his new bike with Buzz Lightyear.

Just call me Crazy…

Seriously what was I thinking? I have been so swamped with work that I couldn’t wait for a break and now that I am done I am hungry for more. Today, it is pouring and all I can think about it taking pictures. Our house is angled weird though so we have horrible lighting inside and I am not a fan of flash so I just would rather not take them inside. So what did I do? Well, I dressed my kids in their outfits I got for our family Christmas pictures (that didn’t happen yesterday, due to the rain) and drove them down the street and made then sit in the rain so I could take their pictures. HA! insane? yes! I got out first, got everything ready then I made Kohl get get Logan while I was getting Bailey out.  I had the boys sit while I ran Bailey over grabbed my camera and then tried to get everyone's attention towards me with a smile… easy right? Not so much.  It wasn’t raining too bad but what was coming down was at an angle directly towards me. The first pictures came out great, BUT not everyone was looking at me. Then, once I got everyone smiling and looking at me, which I couldn’t believe was happening, my camera fogged up!!! ahhhhh So the good picture I have of the kids, is not so good because they look blurry due to the fog in my camera because of the rain.

Oh well I tried. I am still hoping I can get a family picture to send out for New Years. It is the new cool thing to do. Or at least I keep telling myself that since I have yet to get a Christmas card out.

Here are the only two I felt were worth editing.

Now that I look at it again, it is not too bad. Bailey just looks funny to me because of how she is holding her head.

This is the one I like of the kids, but I hate the blur blob in the the middle. No it isn’t too bad, but bad enough for me not to like….

A little about me…

I figured I would write a little something for the people just now finding me. If you ever get super bored and have absolutely  NOTHING else to do, you can also go over and read my old “personal blog”. But, since I am sure none of you really care I will try to keep this short.

I grew up in Reche Canyon, Ca. I have had many jobs including, but not all: 911 dispatcher, waitress, cashier at Lowes, and most recently O.R scrub tech for Labor and delivery. I had worked at the hospital for 6 years in Labor and delivery. I loved my job, but then things started to change. It was after I had Logan. I wasn’t happy anymore at work. All I could think about when I was gone for my 15hrs days was being at home with my son. July 2009 is when I left the hospital and decided to put all my eggs in one basket and jump head first into this photography thing.

I have always loved taking pictures. I have never NOT had a camera on me. When Logan was born I looked at photography in a whole new light. Growing up I just wanted something to look back on and smile, I knew I liked pictures but didn’t understand the importance of them. It is not until you start losing friends and loved ones to realize and understand how important pictures are in all of our lives. So when I had Logan I knew I wanted to capture each and every moment, never to forget it. During this time I also started taking pictures of close friends and family for free just to get the experience and a feel for what I was doing and what my vision was. That is how Hannah Sons Photography was born.

If you want you can go here to read a little bit about why I price the way I do and why I give away so many pictures. Just fair warning I will have to raise my prices again in the future. Honestly it is not something I like to do. You probably think I am crazy for saying that, but this is why. I got into the photography for the pictures, to take the pictures, to edit them afterwards. I didn’t get into photography for the business. I know nothing  about the the business of it. ( well, yes a little, that is how I got up and running, but I hope you know what I mean)

ahh Moving on.

I have been married since Aug/Sept 2007. Why the August and September on there??? well, my husband was diagnosed with non Hodgkin's lymphoma August of 2007 because financially it was better for him to be double insured we got married Aug 15th at the court house so I could add him to my insurance through the hospital. But then as planned, we had our wedding on September 22, 2007. And, to top that whole situation off, I was 18 weeks pregnant with Logan when we got married.. oops. Well we said oops at first and then thanked the man above, because we didn’t know what chemo would do to Wes’ little men, if ya know what I mean.So to make a long story short. He is healthy now and in remission. His job is  power line construction ( like Edison, but not for Edison, he works for Hinkle's and McCoy) so when we have weather like these last few days with constant rain. They get called out a lot and work insane hours.  When you lose power, I lose my husband.

As mentioned I have Logan who will be 3 in January and I also have a daughter who is 7 months, Bailey Renee. I also am a step mom to a 10yo, Kohl. Wes and I have been together since he was five and he has grown and matured so much in that time.  Logan is my crazy, wild child, who I am pretty sure is my pay-back in life. And then Bailey just hangs out, goes with the flow and is very easy. But one thing for sure is they love each other. She can cry and be mad at the world until her brother sits with her, or talks to her and then all she does is laugh. He is constantly telling people that she is “HIS sister” One thing I know for sure, they are my life! Everything I do if for them. Which is why I need to keep making a living off my photography so I don’t have to go back to work until they are both in school.

Now that you are all bored, I am sure that is enough for one night. Like I said I would love feed back to what you want to hear about and what you could care less about.

All Caught Up!

What a great feeling to be all caught up with my work. I seriously never thought this day would come and I am overwhelmed with joy when I think about how busy I have been since August. I have only had 6 weekend days off since August. That is so crazy to me. In one year my business tripled. I can only hope and pray that it will do the same for next year.

With all of that being said and January starting to fill up already I have decided to take my person blog and combined the two blogs I have together. I feel that way, my clients can get to know me a little better along with seeing my work and how I got where I am today. This will also help me stay up with my person blog. I have been lacking in that department for sometime now. I originally started it so my kids will have something to look back on, so now I will just keep them together and take out the work post when I go to publish my blog for my kiddos.   I don’t think I have many followers on here yet but I would love to hear your feedback. What would you like to hear more or and what would you like to hear less of. Please feel free to be open. I love hearing it, the good and the bad. You cannot be a photographer willing to put your work and life out there if you are not ready to hear the negative.. So I am ready.

I hope you all are having a nice weekend. It has been raining for the last two days and I am love it. I am bummed we could do a session yesterday and I am sure I wont be taking my own family pictures today either, but beside those two things I LOVE the rain.

Please feel free to follow this blog and also share with your friends.
